Location / Removal instructions

200/400/25/45 Series     The 5AS ECU is located above driver’s pedals on models up to and inc most of '96. After this on the 'New' series it is located behind the ashtray. (Rover 25's will be above the drivers pedals)
On the earlier ones look up above the drivers pedals and you will be able to see part of the unit. It is held in position by 2 x 10mm plastic nuts and is quite easy to remove with a long extension and 10mm socket......

On the later models the 5AS is located behind the ashtray. Unscrew the Gear knob and remove the Gearlever surround console (self tappers at back and clips at the front). Remove the radio, use a small screwdriver and lever out the hazard warning & heated rear screen switches. Behind them are the 2 upper screws for the centre fascia, lever up the centre of the radio cage to access the centre fixing screw and remove. Remove the 2 fixing screws on either side of the fascia centre piece. The whole of the centre part of the fascia will now pull forward enough to allow disconnection of the clock/radio display.
Once the fascia centre has been removed the 5AS security ECU is accessible by removing the screws holding in the ashtray/cigarette lighter panel.

MGF         The 5AS ECU is located behind & underneath the rotary heater controls. Remove the two 'triangular' panels on each side of the centre console. These are the panels with the foot-well courtesy lights in them. The 2 x 10mm plastic nuts holding the 5AS can now be seen clearly.

Rover Metro/100 series     The 5AS ECU is located above the glovebox. Open the glovebox and remove all the small self-tappers from around the edge of the interior. Pull out the interior and the ECU is located above the hole, held in with 2 x self-tappers

Mini (wooden dash model)    Remove the radio unit from the slot in centre of the dash. The 5AS can be seen mounted on the bulkhead to the left of the slot. You may find it easier to remove the radio cage.
